Why it matters
Young people in North Manchester are growing up in one of the most disadvantaged communities in the country. Many face poverty, poor mental health, and barriers to education and employment that can limit their potential from an early age. Without access to safe spaces and positive role models, too many risk isolation, low self-esteem, or being drawn into anti-social behaviour and exploitation.
Manchester Youth Zone (MYZ) exists to change that. We provide a safe, inclusive environment where young people can learn, grow, and build the confidence and skills they need to create brighter futures.
Why our work matters
- We provide hot, nutritious meals for those who might otherwise go without
- We offer sports, arts, and cultural activities that build confidence and connection
- Our mentoring and emotional support help young people navigate life’s challenges
- Life skills and employability programmes prepare them for adulthood and work
- We deliver SEND-friendly support up to age 25, ensuring inclusivity for all
Every day, MYZ gives young people a reason to believe in themselves and a place to belong. When young people thrive, so does North Manchester — that’s why our work matters.
