We run a variety of projects that help young people develop and gain new skills. Learn more about some of the projects we are currently running at Manchester Youth Zone below.
Sandrine and the team in MYZ’s Career and Enterprise Hub can help you discover what you would like to do and how to make the most of your future; whether you want to explore further education or training, find a career that suits your skills and personality, or even set up your own business. We can even help you with writing CVs, preparing for interviews, and finding work experience.
Have a brilliant idea and think you have what it takes to build your own business? We can help with putting together an action plan, making the most out of digital marketing, finding start-up funds, and much more!
Junior Choices is our award winning 10-week intervention programme for young people in Years 5-7 at school who are at risk of getting involved in anti-social behaviour or being mislead. They may not engage much with education and are likely to become even less engaged as they get older.
We use the power of sports, the arts, and adventurous activities to instill confindence, self-worth, leadership skills and positive role models in their lives. We will help them develop new friendships and improve existing relationships with peers and adults.
If you’re aged 14-19 (or up to 25 with additional needs) you can join our Learn2Lead programme to become a Young Leader!
This 12 week course will help you develop leadership and communication skills, and is a great opportunity to work with like-minded people and meet new friends!
We are always looking for young people who are interested in volunteering, fundraising, offsite trips, and social action. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, you can find out more by clicking the button below.
Our Maker Space is all about getting hands on – the only limit is your imagination.
Crafting, engineering and creating new things: we have learned to expect the unexpected in the MYZ Maker Space. Our 3D and Vinyl Printers have even been used by some of our members to launch their own businesses!
Budding Masterchefs prepare healthy, nutritious hot meals and desserts while learning about the nutritional value of foods, and how to be hygienic in the kitchen. The Training Kitchen is available to all our Members during Tuesdays Junior Sessions and Monday and Wednesdays Senior Sessions.
We also run structured cooking programmes for schools, colleges, and charities working with young people. These programmes go into more depth about nutrition and food hygiene, and also build up important skills like teamwork, time management and self-reliance.
There is also an opportunity for young people to work towards a Level 1 and Level 2 AQA in subjects such as Food Preparation, Nutrition, Customer Service, and more. These are formal qualifications which can be included on a young person’s CV, or for applying for further education courses.
