“MYZ staff will help you to get to the place you want to be, support you to get access to things you need…the stepping stones to your dreams”

Rasheed, 24

Rasheed was born and bought up in Italy and came to live in North Manchester in 2014,. He secured himself a place at College attending ESOL classes to improve his English language skills and then on to Manchester College to do sports.
Alongside this he joined the youth zone to play basketball and take part in the activities on offer. His approach has always been to meet new people and take up new opportunities. Basketball was a sport he loved and was the driver for his life at the time, he played for teams outside of the youth zone 3-4 time a week.
He trained to be a young leader at MYZ and continued to participate in delivering the sports activities for the young people. He enjoyed working as a young leader and has always been a driven young man with a commitment to personal self -development who has harnessed any opportunities which came his way to broaden his horizon.
Whilst delivering sports leaders and playing basketball he was encouraged to take up a place on a ‘Get A Job’ scheme delivered by MYZ. At the end of the training, he successfully secured a position at Wagamama’s where he stayed for four years. In 2018 he was encouraged by his friend at modelling by his friend.
He sent through a test sheet and from there he has secured jobs with Pretty Little Thing and ASOS. The modelling career has in his own words been up and down and particularly with covid, but he is continuing with ASOS and his aim to change the industries view of plus-size. He also continues to consider new pathways for his own development.
